Accessibility Statement

1. Commitment to Accessibility

Dolmen Insurance is committed to ensuring that our services are accessible to all users, including persons with disabilities.

We recognise the importance of providing digital services that are inclusive, easy to use, and accessible across a wide range of devices and assistive technologies. Our website — www.dolmen-insurance.ie — is designed and maintained with accessibility in mind.

2. Legal and Regulatory Framework

This accessibility statement is provided in accordance with:

  • The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882), effective from 28 June 2025
  • The Disability Act 2005 (Ireland)
  • The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA

These frameworks require that digital services are designed to be:

  • Perceivable
  • Operable
  • Understandable
  • Robust

We have incorporated these principles into the design and ongoing development of our website.

3. Scope of Services

Dolmen Insurance provides consumer-facing insurance services via its website, including:

  • Access to insurance information and services
  • Online quote forms and applications
  • Customer enquiries and contact facilities
  • Supporting documentation such as policy documents and brochures

These services fall within the scope of accessibility requirements under applicable EU and Irish legislation.

4. Accessibility Measures Implemented

Our website was fully rebuilt in October 2025, with accessibility forming a core part of the design and development process.

Measures implemented include:

  • Clear and consistent navigation structure
  • Full keyboard navigation support across key areas
  • Responsive design to support mobile devices and zoom functionality
  • Use of accessible fonts, spacing, and layout for readability
  • Comprehensive use of alternative text for images
  • Review and improvement of colour contrast across the site
  • Structured content to support assistive technologies

5. Accessibility Features and User Controls

To further support accessibility, we have implemented an accessibility enhancement tool (OneTap) which allows users to customise their browsing experience.

This includes:

Text and Readability

  • Adjustable text size, spacing, and alignment
  • Readable and dyslexia-friendly fonts
  • Font weight controls and text magnification

Visual Adjustments

  • High contrast, light contrast, and dark contrast modes
  • Monochrome and colour saturation adjustments
  • Highlighting of links, titles, and content

Navigation and Interaction

  • Keyboard navigation support
  • Text-to-speech functionality
  • Reading line and reading mask tools
  • Larger cursor and enhanced focus visibility
  • Options to disable animations, mute sounds, and hide images

These features support users with a wide range of visual, cognitive, and motor accessibility needs.

6. Current Accessibility Status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

7. Known Limitations

We are aware of certain areas where accessibility may be dependent on third-party providers or subject to ongoing improvement:

  • Third-party forms and embedded tools may not fully meet accessibility standards in all cases. These are considered third-party content not fully under our control.
  • PDF documents provided by insurance providers may not always be fully accessible. In some cases, this may represent a disproportionate burden to remediate due to the volume and origin of such documents.
  • Some decorative text transitions may momentarily display reduced contrast during animation effects; however, the static content meets required contrast standards once transitions are complete.

We are working to address these areas where possible and to support users who require assistance.

8. Ongoing Monitoring and Improvement

Accessibility is an ongoing process. Dolmen Insurance is committed to:

  • Regularly reviewing website accessibility
  • Using both automated and manual testing methods
  • Addressing identified issues based on priority and user impact
  • Considering further audits and improvements following website updates
