The Perfect Halloween Night In

Halloween – a time for thrills, chills and scaring ourselves silly. But did you know that everyone’s favourite fright-filled holiday began in Ireland? Trace Halloween right back to its origins and you’ll find yourself in the mists of pagan Ireland over 3,000 years ago – a time when the ancient festival of Samhain was celebrated in the heart of Ireland’s Ancient East to mark the beginning of winter.

It’s said that at Halloween the boundary between our world and the Otherworld is at its thinnest, allowing spirits and demons to easily pass between the two.

Sounds great. But Halloween is on a Wednesday this year, and with forecasts for a cold night what sounds better than staying home, turning off the lights, getting a blanket (to hide behind) and watching a horror film.

International Credit Union Day 2018

Why do millions of people worldwide choose credit unions?

Because it is through credit unions that members can improve their communities and lives. As cooperative and democratic financial institutions, credit unions’ success depends on the success of their members and their community. Credit Unions share common interests with their members. This October 18, CUSafe.ie will join more than 89,000 credit unions from 117 countries and millions of members globally to celebrate the 70th anniversary of International Credit Union Day®.
Credit unions strive to make the world a better place for their members by offering loans at affordable rates and a high-quality service that simplify their lives and empower them to meet their financial goals.

CUsafe was developed in 2009 when we saw that Irish Credit Unions wanted to provide value based Insurance products for their members, but many found the compliance and staff workload involved made it difficult for them to do so. We were convinced that using the strong relationship members have with the Credit Union as leverage we would be in a strong position to negotiate discounts with quality providers on their behalf, and this was correct.
